Who’s Who?

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

I’m working with a bridal couple for next month, and they were concerned that not very many of their friends know each other……so……on the back of each placecard, which will be at the guest’s dining room seat, they have written a little poem about the guest. They are going to ask everyone to SHUFFLE cards when they sit down, so they can introduce each other! Great idea for either the wedding or the rehersal dinner!

Cake? What Cake?

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

One of our edgy clients from New York decided that a huge puffy wedding cake was not her thing. Instead, she did a little wedding cake as the centerpiece for each table. Each fresh flower trimmed cake was perched on a crystal or silver cake stand wrapped in ivy. Each cake was different, and each one was big enough to serve the 10 guests at the table. Rose petals were scattered over the tabletop, and there was a silver cake cutter on each table.

After she and the groom cut their tiny cake, they asked someone at each table to cut the centerpiece and serve it! What a great way to promote comunity and conversation! (* And to save money, as the cake stood in for the centerpiece!*)

Brilliant!

Simply the best photographers

Our first link here is for Shelley and Keith, just the best photographers in New Jersey if not the universe. They are creative, talented and calm (don’t downplay that last attribute), and they will cover your wedding professionally and elegantly.

I met last fall at a wedding at a clubhouse; when we needed someone to line up the bridal party and shoot them down the aisle, Shelley stepped in and managed with grace. When we were missing several groomsmen, Keith found them. Simply put, they did what had to be done to make the wedding ceremony smooth and flawless, even though that is not really their job.

I had the pleasure of recommending them to a colleague this summer, and it was a joy to see them on site, both before the event and during. Definately, definately contact them. Their work and personalities will make your day (and your photos) amazing.

BOO!

Two of my cool clients got married on Halloween eve! They used a number of creative and interesting elements to really personalize their wedding. They had MANY pumpkins, carved and lit with candles, to line the pathway to their ceremony space. The favors were chocolate dipped apples, and the centerpieces were giant crystal bowls filled with candy corn and autumn colored candles. The placecards were held by tiny pumpkins, and the flowers were all in autumn tones with fabulous black calla lilies. It was an amazing night, complete with a handfasting and broom jumping during the ceremony! Pix to follow!

A summer wedding in the park

And what a fabulous wedding it was! Terri and Sergio had a wedding party that included a Mariachi band! They were married in a public park, much to the delight of many passers by, who couldn’t help but be charmed and intriqued by their ceremony. They ended their ceremony with a butterfly release and a festive reception at a Mexican restaurant nearby.

The butterflies were an especially interesting part of their celebration; the Monarchs travel from Mexico to Canada every year, and their arduous journey reflected the path of Terri and Sergio. It was a beautiful and personal closing to their ceremony.
