Tis the season!

Friday, November 30th, 2007

I have the coolest clients on the planet, and many of my December brides have found ingenious and inspiring ways to share their happiness with those around them. One couple had itty bitty Christmas trees as centerpieces, which were delivered to a local nursing home to brighten the activity rooms and dining rooms for the residents. Another couple asked their guests to skip giving them gifts; (they’d lived together for years and had everything they needed) but to instead bring small, unwrapped toys that they donated to a local drive for kids in need. Still another used Unicef Christmas cards as their invitations, supporting this amazing, and I think overlooked charity.

Christmas and Channukah are beautiful and inspirational times to get married, and how amazing to share your joy and abundance with those less fortunate. It is truly a great start to a lifetime of involvement with your community, and the inevitable joy that this sharing brings.

Yum Yum! What a great alternative to a traditional wedding cake! Danielle and Jake Vance, at the Sweet Avenue Bake Shop in Rutherford, makes these amazing little gems in all sorts of flavors and some also come in vegan versions (say that five times fast, lol….). How about the “Somemore”, with marshmallow frosting and graham cracker topping with melted chocolate? Or maybe “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, with sky blue icing? They are beautiful, quirky, tasty, and the perfect end to your weddding, so go and visit them soon! And say hi to the rest of the family; Danielle’s mom, Ann, and her sister, Kristina are all part of the happy creative process here, and their care and enthusiasm really shows.

Check them out! They are in our links!

Of the many rituals that may be included in your wedding ceremony, the unity candle may be the most popular; here is one idea for a reading to accompany the moment when you light your candle together.

Unity Candle Reading

A medieval mystic wrote: ‘From every human being there rises a light that reaches straight to heaven. It is a joyous day when souls that are destined to be together find each other, their streams of light flow together and a single, brighter light goes forth from their united being. This single light is made up of all, but does not mean that the individuals are lost; their individual light is made more magnificent joined in unity. May the remembrance of this light guide you when life is uncertain, and illuminate you when life is joyful.

WWW.Signals.com is a wonderful online source for interesting rings, bridal party gifts and inspirational jewelry of all kinds, reasonably priced. These wonderful rings are inscribed with the Celtic phrase, Anam Cara.

In Celtic Spiritual tradition, it is believed that there is an aura that surrounds us and sends our soul into the universe. When two people connect on such a deep, emotionally intimate level that they can be completely open and trusting with that individual, their souls merge. In this bond, they have each found their Anam Cara; their true soul mate.

What a wonderful reminder to have engraved on your wedding band!
